Phish on DVD

Phish - The Clifford Ball DVD

Press Release
Last fall, when members of Phish -- guitarist Trey Anastasio, drummer Jon Fishman, bassist Mike Gordon, and keyboardist Page McConnell -- announced the band would take the stage again for the first time in four years, tickets for the three-night stand at Hampton Coliseum in Virginia sold out immediately. This month, the band announced additional dates, marking a return to the road for one of the most successful touring bands of all time.

Rhino starts the celebration a few days before Phish's highly anticipated shows with a 7-DVD collection documenting The Clifford Ball, a landmark concert event that drew more than 70,000 fans to upstate New York in August 1996. It was the largest concert event of 1996 in North America and set the tone for festivals including Bonnaroo and Coachella. Ray Waddell summed it up in Billboard: "Bonnaroo is a direct descendant of Phish's one-band festival extravaganzas like Clifford Ball...Bonnaroo launched with -- and maintains -- the same self-contained, immersive experience as the Phish events, as well as its laissez-faire treatment of fans and spirit of community."

The Clifford Ball was the first of six two-day spectacles the band staged, which included The Great Went a year later, followed by Lemonwheel in 1998 and culminating in Big Cypress -- the largest ticketed event in the world for the millennium celebrations, drawing over 90,000. The Clifford Ball was held in Plattsburgh, New York, at a decommissioned air force base, during which Phish played two marathon concerts including multiple guests.

The DVDs contain all three sets and encores the band played each night, along with bonus footage -- more than 9 hours of live improvisation. The bonus DVD presents choice rarities including a soundcheck from August 15, their "Flatbed Jam" performed in the wee hours of the morning on the back of a truck, an interview with longtime Phish artist Jim Pollock, interviews with Phish and more.

The first night provided fans with a preview of several tracks that would appear a few months later on Billy Breathes, the band's eighth studio album. During the show, the foursome convened on a small stage, where they performed acoustic versions of then-unreleased tracks: "Waste," "Talk" and "Train Song."

On the second night, nearly half of the songs featured have never appeared on a studio album, including "Runaway Jim," "Wilson," "Punch You In The Eye" and "Harpua." Between the first and second set, an orchestra played selections by Debussy, Ravel and Stravinsky as a glider plane flew over in synch with the music as the sun set.

Live in Brooklyn

Press Release - Live In Brooklyn was recorded on June 17, 2004, at Keyspan Park at Coney Island in Brooklyn,NY. It marked the start of the final Phish tour and was the first date after the emotional news of their breakup was announced. The show was simultaneously broadcast to movie theaters nationwide -- arguably the most successful live theatrical broadcast to date, with legions of loyal Phish fans dancing in the aisles across the country. Included on this CD are the two complete sets the band performed that day. Phish were a cultural phenomenon -- touring and recording for 21 years with a remarkably dedicated following who continue to celebrate everything Phish.

Over 3 hours of content -- two complete sets with bonus performances.
The Phish IT DVD was certified platinum by the RIAA. All Phish DVD releases have debuted at #1 or #2.

Bittersweet Motel

Bittersweet Motel, the 2000 Phish documentary by Todd Phillips, follows a year in the life of the band, from the happening called the Great Went in Maine in August 1997 through the band's 1998 European tour.

The film is a combination of concert footage and interviews. Guitarist Trey Anastasio is the focus of most of the nonmusical scenes in the 80 plus minute film.

Phish have a concert video, Live in Vegas, which could be better in the visual aspect.

Paul Rodgers: Live in Glasgow

Product Description
His resume reads like a rock fan's wildest dream: frontman and main songwriter for FREE (founded with the late guitarist Paul Kossoff), BAD COMPANY, THE FIRM, SOLO & QUEEN. Paul Rodgers has been electrifying audiences since he hit #1 with his worldwide hit "All Right Now" co-written with Free. After six years with FREE, Rodgers formed BAD COMPANY with Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs. As the main songwriters they wrote all of the platinum records and #1 hits. While moving forward as a solo artist he took a slight detour and formed THE FIRM with LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page. He then continued as a solo artist and received a Grammy Nomination for his "Muddy Water Blues" CD on which he wrote the title track. In 2005 he joined forces with QUEEN and toured worldwide at QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS performing songs from both of their catalogues. He is currently proceeding on two fronts with QUEEN and as a solo artist. In '07, he will play ten exclusive US dates this spring and one summer date in Holland. Queen + Paul Rodgers - Return of the Champions
Despite taking a lengthy break from the music industry after the sad death of their unpredictable front man Freddy Mercury, Queen returned in 2005 with a new vocalist replacing the seemingly irreplaceable Mercury. Ex-Free singer Paul Rodgers was assigned the daunting task of following in Freddy's footsteps, but fans across the globe embraced him as the band performed a greatest hits tour. Buoyed by the success of the musical WE WILL ROCK YOU, Queen's spectacular comeback saw them rise once again, recapturing all the energy of songs such as "We Are the Champions," "Another One Bites the Dust," and, of course, "Bohemian Rhapsody." This release presents 27 tracks from the Rodgers-fronted Queen line up, and encompasses songs from both artists' back catalogues.

Simon and Garfunkel on DVD

The Concert in Central Park (1982)

From the back cover:
On September 19, 1981, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel set foot on a stage in front of half a million adoring fans who were gathered in Central Park in New York City to witness musical history. These two wonderful entertainers who left us a legacy of music during the turbulent sixties had not played together in over a decade. After 11 long years, the sounds of silence were finally broken. It was obvious this was going to be a special night, singing such beautiful classics as "Mrs. Robinson," "Homeward Bound," "Feeling Groovy," "America," and "The Sounds of Silence," as if they'd never been apart. The night flowed with a moving history of their music, and a tender rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" brought rousing applause. A solo performance by Garfunkel includes "April Come She Will" and "Scarborough Fair." Paul Simon sings his light-hearted view of life, "Still Crazy After All These Years." The musical magic of Simon and Garfunkel had returned, like the warm smile of a long lost friend. Approx. 87 minutes, color, 1982.
