7.02.1989 Jerry Garcia, Bobby Weir & Los Lobos

This was recorded in the parking lot (backstage at the Grateful Dead show) for ABC's Nightline July 4th broadcast. Basically it is Jerry, Bob and Los Lobos on acoustic doing several takes of This Land Is Your Land. Most of the takes have a small flub here or there which made the performers stop and restart. The second take has a smoking Jerry acoustic run but he breaks a string at its conclusion. The final take which gets it right is very well done. An accordion is present and a saxophone. Inbetween these takes is Let The Good Times Roll and Sittin’ On Top Of The World. The LTGTRoll is fragmented with errors. The Sittin’ is well done. All in all it seemed that the band was trying to set up a good photo opportunity. Weir can be heard asking where he should sit and where he should look into the camera.
