The Golden Road - Grateful Dead Box Set review

The Golden Road review

The Golden Road is a twelve disc Warner Brother reissue.  Included is a new double disc called Birth of the Dead, which consists of one disc of pre Grateful Dead studio recordings and one of live performances from 1966.

The packaging of the box set is super.  Each disc is in it's own package with the original art work, but they added a small booklet with liner to each CD.  Then the individual discs are packaged neatly in a box and a 75 page book sits on top. The book is pretty good and it contains plenty of rare photos.

What makes this box set so special though is the music that was added to each CD. Each of the previously released albums have additional tracks that complement the original recordings exquisitely. 

My complements can not be stronger for superb selection of the bonus material and the repackaging of these albums.  The grade of an A is based of the overall product, the music is reviewed separately. by Barry Small ©
