Keystone
Encores review
Saunders
and Garcia Keystone Encores is the third installment of their July
10 and 11, 1973, concert performances. Certainly this album is a
welcome continuation of the first two giving fans another hour of
laid-back jam filled music.
The two
Motown numbers are the most successful tracks on this CD. The band
completely rewrites the arrangement of “How Sweet It Is (To Be
Loved by You)” where Merl pounds out chords during Garcia’s solo
blending perfectly. The blues based “Hi-Heel Sneakers” holds
down a nice rhythm with soulful singing and searing guitar picking.
Keystone Encores is just as
solid as the first two. Chances are if you like one you’ll get all
three. by Barry
