Led
Zeppelin IV review
Led
Zeppelin's IV is their best studio album!
This
album has perhaps their three most played songs on the radio,
"Stairway to Heaven," "Black Dog," and
"Rock and Roll." These three songs are superb, and deserve
their recognition. "Rock and Roll" is a Chuck Berry style
song with an original twist executed exquisitely. Without John
Bonham's efforts on this song, I can only envision this as an
ordinary piece of music. Another classic song from the album,
"Black Dog," has one of their best riffs that they've
written. But the rhythmic section of the song at the end is just as
important, and it is really a quite clever melody. Besides the three
classics noted above there are five additional good songs. The folk
oriented "Going to California" is a gem and features some
outstanding vocal parts by Robert Plant, complemented by Jimmy Page
on the mandolin.
The
only negative criticism with Led Zeppelin IV is that you've
heard these songs so many times. by Barry Small ©
